The biggest challenge for any
parent during this lockdown is to manage their kids. Especially if your kids
are toddlers, they’re an even bigger challenge. I have a 3 year old son and
I’ve been struggling since the beginning of this lockdown to manage his screen
time. When things were normal, he could go down to the park or play outside
with the kids of his age who he met when he went outside, but since March,
things have changed for all of us drastically. Children have no clue about the pandemic
and they are only confused with whatever is happening around them. It saddens
me to the core that the initial crucial years of the young ones is being spent
inside the walls of a house and they’re missing out on the fun they could have
had if things were under control. This has created another problem i.e.
increased screen time for them. Every parent right is going through this
dilemma of cutting down their child’s screen time.
It’s very difficult to be with
the kids all the time with all the work from home going on. Many organizations
have loaded their employees with so much work not considering that things are
not the way they’re supposed to be. Employers seem to have forgotten the fact
that for parents, it’s extremely difficult to manage work with kids being
around. I would consider myself quite lucky in this case as my employer,
Sapient has been quite considerate in delegating work amongst employees.
They’ve made sure to take this fact under consideration that being at home is
even difficult with trying to manage work and other responsibilities. Not only
work delegation, but also organizing sessions on controlling your kids screen
time and how to make the best use of lockdown for kids have been really
insightful and helpful. It has really given a way forward to parents like me to
make the time as productive as it can be for our kids and help them in staying
away from being glued to the screen.
This is what makes my
organization i.e. Sapient different from other organizations and encourages me
to write not from a parent’s perspective but rather give an honest Sapient Employee feedback.
I’m really impressed with the way the leadership and management has given a
thought to this aspect and has come out with such a practical and effective
solution. I’m sure the normalcy will resume soon but I’d like to thank sapient
to take care of my worries till the time we’re all in the lockdown J

This is one of the best Sapient employee reviews on parenting at work. While working at Sapient, I never felt pressured at work. Our team is really supportive and we understand each other's difficulties at working from home.
ReplyDeleteThis is something new and fresh I have read, especially around parenting. This post has really changed my perspective towards work culture. If organizations start caring about their employees, then what else is needed.
