Depression, employee wellness and mental health have been trending topics in the workplace since 2020. However, I always thought of them as something which other people deal with. I never thought of experiencing its positive effect firsthand myself. But, in Oct., 2021, I got a “Mental Day Off” leave from my company, and I realized that the organization-wide mental health initiatives had touched me personally. So, I went through Publicis Sapient reviews, news and emails of last year for detailed analysis. I am surprised and happy with the work done by PS for its employees' mental wellbeing.
Some initiatives by Publicis Sapient to support its people
Depression is becoming a common ailment among fast-paced professionals who face home, children and work deadlines constantly. Since this is a mental state, it may become difficult to recognize if you are disturbed by current circumstances or a long backlog.
1. Mental Health Playbook
The organization recognizes
that people may be uncomfortable seeking help voluntarily, openly. Sometimes,
people may not realize the issue themselves and bubble up the feelings
inside.
Hence, all employees have a “Mental Health Playbook”, which helps in identifying signs of mental health issues, tips and tricks to manage them. I liked this playbook because it helps people for their own concerns and for supporting their colleagues as well.
2. Mental Health Ambassadors
Publicis Sapient has trained
some of its people to be Mental Health Ambassadors (MHAs), who can assist on
issues like anxiety, loss & grief, workload burnout, lack of motivation.
Recently, I took a session with MHA when I was feeling overwhelmed at home. I
got some relatable stories, tips and most importantly, a non-judgmental
ear.
